Upcoming August Clearwater Aging Well Center Programs

 

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Aging Well Center, located in the Long Center at 1501 N. Belcher Road, will host a variety of upcoming programs. For more information or to pre-register, call (727) 724-3070.

Highlights include:

City of Clearwater: Volunteer Program
Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2-3 p.m.
Natalie Lamb, Volunteer Recreation Specialist and Lloyd Simmons, Recreation Programmer at Moccasin Lake Nature Park, will discuss city of Clearwater volunteer program opportunities. Door prize tickets will go to those who pre-register and attend. Free.

Musical Performance – All About Cats!
Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2-3:30 p.m.
Join us for an entertaining musical and informative tribute to cats throughout history with composer, singer, storyteller and cat aficionado Denny Mitchell. Limited seating is available. Pre-registration is recommended. Free.

Team Trivia Challenge
Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2-3:30 p.m.
Exercise your brain through fun challenges about facts, dates and culture with George and Melanie Martin. Free

Caregiver Series
Thursday, Aug 17, 2-3 p.m.
Does caregiving impact your health? Explore the risks and benefits of being a caregiver. Presented by William Haley, Ph.D., USF School of Aging Studies. Free.

Brain Health Series
Thursday, Aug 24, 2-3:30 p.m.
Bernadette Fausto, MS, presents current research on cognitive training and the importance of maintaining cognitive health. Free.

Book Club
Friday, Aug. 25, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
This monthly program provides an informal guided discussion of select books. The August selection is “Love in the Time of Cholera,” by Gabriel Marquez. Call to confirm book selection and read prior to the session. Free.
