Clearwater Public Library System Introduces the Thingamabrary

Library patrons can now check-out tools, board games, technology kits and more.

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Patrons can now check out the drill and hammer needed to assemble furniture, not just the “how-to” book, from any of the Clearwater Public Library Systems’ five branches. Along with tools, patrons are now welcome to check out board games, technology kits and ukuleles through the Clearwater Public Library System’s Thingamabrary.

Items in the Thingamabrary collection are available to all Pinellas Public Library Cooperative card-holders, including Dunedin, Largo, Safety Harbor and St. Petersburg libraries. Borrowers must be at least 18-years-old and sign two forms prior to check-out: the Thingamabrary Use Policy and Item Release. It is up to borrowers to safely and properly use any tools, as library staff is not available to assist in explaining the operation of items. The standard lending period is seven days with a single renewal, as long as nobody has requested that item, and overdue fines are $0.50 per day, except Ukuleles, which are fined at $2 per day.

Like the library’s print and digital collections, the Thingamabrary is set to grow and change to meet community needs and interests. The current collection includes 19 different tools, 20 different board games, two types of technology kits and ukulele kits. The library plans to add art kits to the Thingamabrary in the near future.

For more information and to browse the collection, visit the Thingamabrary website at myclearwaterlibrary.com/books-more/thingamabrary or call (727) 562-4970.
