Roads Close in Clearwater in Anticipation of Downtown Quiet Zone

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The following roads in the city of Clearwater are permanently closing in anticipation of the downtown quiet zone that will take effect later this year.

Hendricks and Grove streets at the intersection of East Avenue and the railroad line are now closed in Downtown Clearwater. This closure is done by authority of the City Council and Florida Department of Transportation in order to finalize the quiet zone. Barricades will remain in place for a few days so that motorists get used to the closures.

Now that the closures are complete, the city’s request to get the quiet zone in Downtown Clearwater established will be complete. The Federal Rail Administration and Florida Department of Transportation will approve the request hopefully this spring. Residents with questions can call the city of Clearwater’s Engineering Department at (727) 562-4750.
