Description:
Go greener and cleaner with carpooling. October is Commuter Choices Month, and Clearwater residents are encouraged to attend the Clearwater Commuter Celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., City Hall parking lot, 112 S. Osceola Ave. Attendees can learn about other transportation options to get to and from work instead of driving alone. The event features transportation and bicycle vendors and many great prizes. The event is free and fun for the whole family.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, Clearwater firefighters will address the dangers of home fires and teach citizens about potential fire hazards during the department’s third Annual Open House. Fire Prevention Week 2008 runs October 5 to 11. This year’s theme is Preventing Home Fires.

Cooper's Point Preserve Cleanup

Description:
The City of Clearwater will be hosting a Coastal Cleanup, and volunteers are needed. It will take place Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to Noon at Cooper’s Point Preserve, 3411 Gulf to Bay Blvd. Volunteers are needed to remove trash, litter, and debris from the park’s open spaces and forested areas. The cleanup is part of the Annual Coastal Clean Up, coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy. To sign up, call (727) 562-4897.
