Finding Information with the LITERATURE RESOURCE CENTERThe Clearwater Public Library and the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative offer the Literature Resource Center to registered library patrons as a way to search for information on authors, genres, historical timelines of literary movements, and other information on literature. ACCESSING THE LITERATURE RESOURCE CENTERClick here to access the database At the next screen, enter your 14-digit library card number (if outside the library) and click PROCEED. The main page of the database will appear. CONDUCTING SEARCHESThe default search is Author Search, but there are many other options available.
When conducting an Author Search, you can search by an author's full name, a part of the name, or variant names and pseudonyms. Another search option is Authors by Type; when you click on this link, you will get the following page:
From here you can search authors by specifying such classifications as genre, literary movement/time period, birth and/or death date, nationality, and ethnicity. Using this search allows you to identify authors who share common classifications. You can also search by Literary - Historical Timeline.

Finally, you can conduct an Advanced Search in order to get very specific results by using Boolean operators and a number of options to limit your search:
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF LITERATUREYou have the option of consulting an Encyclopedia of Literature, which you can search by keyword. This can be very useful for finding basic information about authors and literary movements. To access it from any page, simply click on the button at the top of the page.
LITERARY INDEXYou can also find additional information by clicking on the Gale Literary Index directly to the right of the Encyclopedia of Literature button. A new window will appear, where you can conduct searches of authors, titles, customize your own search.
NAVIGATING RESULTSOnce you have conducted a search, the results will be displayed on a page that will you options on the types of materials to display.
Once you have a list of results, you can mark them for later retrieval; just be sure to click on the Update mark list button after you have made your selections.
PRINTING AND EMAILING ARTICLESAfter you click on an article and have its contents displayed, you have the option at the upper left of either printing the article or emailing it to yourself. If you choose print, the article will be automatically formatted for printing properly.
