EMS Bureau

Image of an AEDEach firefighter is EMT certified. Each paramedic is firefighter certified. The Department operates on a 3-shift rotation of 54 personnel on each shift. The shift includes 2 District Chiefs, 11 Lieutenants, 10 Driver/Operators, 14 Paramedics and 17 Firefighters.

Medical services can be provided from both ALS and BLS vehicles. Paramedics have one-on-one support and guidance from local hospitals, a licensed Emergency Physician, a Rescue Lieutenant, and a Fire Assistant Chief of EMS.

EMS personnel also provide Specialty Teams, such as the Special Events Team, which provides medical standby at special events, and a Medical Special Operations Response Team, which works in conjunction with the Police Department. The EMS Division plans and oversees a model Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program that not only leads the County, but received national recognition from the American Heart Association as well.
