Clearwater 101 is an interactive program that focuses on educating citizens about the city's governmental processes. Elected officials, department directors and other city staff will host unique and informative sessions designed to give citizens hands-on experience in city government operations. Join other citizens who help keep our community strong by actively participating in civic affairs.

When We Meet

The 16th class of the annual Citizens Academy program will begin with orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The 10-session curriculum that follows will also take place on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8:30 p.m. through graduation on Nov. 16. Participants must attend eight of ten sessions in order to graduate from the program.

Application Period is Currently Closed

The application period for the 2017 program is currently closed. The application period for the 2018 class will open in July 2018.

Program History

The first Clearwater 101 Citizens Leadership Academy began with a picnic held at Moccasin Lake Environmental Education Center on Sept.14, 2002. Recognizing that residents are the city's most important assets, officials designed the program to help residents become more actively involved in local government.
