8/31/2010 - Watch a Movie for Free at the Clearwater Public Library

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Clearwater Library System will host Films on the Bluff at the Clearwater Beach Library on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2 p.m. and the Clearwater Main Library on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2 p.m. featuring the movie Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, starring Richard Gere and Joan Allen. Admission is free. more

8/31/2010 - Florida Author to be Featured at Downtown Book & Wine Festival

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Tim Dorsey, former Tampa Tribune reporter and author of a popular quirky Florida crime novel series, will be featured at the inaugural Cleveland Street Book and Wine Festival in Station Square Park on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 9 p.m. The festival, a large used book sale sponsored by the Clearwater Downtown Development Board, is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Clearwater Library. more

8/30/2010 - Keep Your Home Safe from Flooding

The City of Clearwater is updating its Flood Plain Management Plan and is discovering new ways to help reduce future flood damage to Clearwater neighborhoods. Information has been sent to all Clearwater property owners to inform them of their flooding potential and information on ways to reduce risk. more

8/25/2010 - Reminder: The Downtown Clearwater Boat Slips Ribbon Cutting Scheduled


CLEARWATER, Fla. – The City of Clearwater will hold a Grand Opening Celebration for the new Downtown Boat Slips Thursday, Sept. 2, at 9 a.m., 210 Drew St. The event will include speeches by city officials and representatives from the agencies that have worked to ensure the success of the project. Refreshments will be served.

8/23/2010 - Clearwater Police Enforce School Zones and Bus Stop Safety

The Clearwater Police Department will monitor school zones as children head back for the first day of school on August 24. The Traffic Enforcement Team and Patrol Officers will enforce school speed zones and traffic laws regarding safe vehicle operations around school buses. more

8/23/2010 - Firefighters Remind Drivers to Slow Down for First Day of School

Clearwater Firefighters will be present at three Clearwater elementary schools to remind drivers to obey school speed zones when school begins on August 24. Firefighters will use fire apparatus, lights and banners to warn drivers to be alert and use caution when children are present.

8/18/2010 - Clearwater Utility Customers Affected by Water System Maintenance

The method of water disinfection used by Pinellas County Utilities and Clearwater Public Utilities will temporarily be switched from chloramines to chlorine disinfection from Monday, Aug. 23 to Friday, Oct. 8, 2010. This short-term change is a routine maintenance measure to optimize water quality in the water delivery system. Those impacted by this maintenance program include customers of Pinellas County Utilities and any municipality served by Pinellas County Utilities, including Clearwater. more

8/18/2010 - Upcoming Road Closures

The intersection of Barbara and Thames lanes will be closed to traffic today, Aug. 18. Traffic can use Spring and Flora lanes as alternate routes.

Betty Lane at Overlea Street will be closed to traffic through Aug. 20. Springdale Street can be used as a detour route.

Cleveland Street from Fort Harrison Avenue to the Drew Street Extension will be closed to traffic Saturday, Sept. 11 from 7 a.m. to noon. Fort Harrison Avenue can be used as a detour route.

Reclaimed water will be available in the Clearwater Harbor area of the City of Clearwater in the coming years. The project design is progressing, and all residents are invited to join us for a public meeting to provide input on the project. more

8/13/2010 - Clearwater Firefighters Put Liquid Fire Extinguisher to the Test on National TV

Clearwater Firefighters tested a new fire suppressant product designed for in-home use for Discovery's show Pitchmen. The new invention, called Cold Fire, is a non-toxic, biodegradable liquid fire-extinguisher in a can.
