TriRock Clearwater Ready to Rock End of Triathlon Season

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Itís a musical multi-sport mash-up with rocking, swimming, biking and running. Taking place on Sunday, November 10, the second TriRock Clearwater Triathlon presented by REI will feature a beach start and open water swim at Pier 60, followed by a scenic bike and run course along the shores of the gulf.

Starting at 6:50 am, the TriRock Clearwater Triathlon includes sprint and intermediate distance events as well as a three-person triathlon relay. The course boasts a single loop, warm water swim in the Gulf of Mexico, followed by a flat single loop bike course that takes athletes through the sites and scenes of downtown Clearwater. The triathlon finishes with a flat single loop run course along Clearwater Harbor and the beach. Seasoned veterans and beginners alike can enjoy entertainment along the course and a rockiní post-race concert on the sand with family and friends.

Traffic will be impacted during the race. Residents should allow extra time when traveling Sand Key, Clearwater Beach, Memorial Causeway, and Island Estates. The following road closures are moving closures due to the bike route and begin intermittently at 6:30 a.m. and continue through 12:30 p.m., with some closures taking place between these times. Traffic will be allowed through by police escort:

- Belcher Road from Sunset Point to N.E. Coachman Road

- Belleview Boulevard from South Fort Harrison Avenue to Indian Rocks Road

- Drew Street from N.E. Coachman Road to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue

- Druid Road from Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue to South Fort Harrison Avenue

- North Fort Harrison Avenue from Chestnut to Fairmont streets

- South Fort Harrison Avenue from Druid Road to Belleview Boulevard

- South Gulfview Boulevard from Gulf Boulevard to Pier 60

- North Hercules Avenue from Virginia Avenue to Sunset Point Road

- Keene Road from Union Street o Virginia Avenue

- Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue from Drew Street to Druid Road

- North Myrtle Avenue from Fairmont to Union streets

- N.E. Coachman Road from Belcher Road to Drew Street

- Sunset Point Road from North Hercules Avenue to Belcher Road

- Union Street from Myrtle Avenue to Keene Road

The roundabout on Clearwater Beach will be closed, and all traffic attempting to access the roundabout from South Clearwater Beach to travel east on the Memorial Causeway will need to use the Belleair Causeway Bridge.

The unique triathlon format features a rocking competition, complete with music along the course, followed by a post-race party and concert. Participants will receive a finisherís medal, technical t-shirt, red carpet finish, post-race breakfast and access to the concert and beer garden. Participants just testing the waters of the triathlon experience can also sign up as a three-person relay team, taking on eitherthe swim, bike or run component.
