Clearwater Police Investigate Death Of Man

Clearwater Police are on the scene of what appears to be a suspicious death.

The man, who may be homeless, was found dead at 3:43 p.m. by a man who was walking through the parking lot of the closed gas station at 1840 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.

The cause of death appears to be upper body trauma.

The man's body was found on the west side of the former gas station, which has been closed for some time. The gas station sits between two fast-food restaurants on Gulf-to-Bay and is just west of Clearwater High School.

Clearwater homicide detectives, representatives of the Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office and forensics investigators from the Pinellas County Sheriff's office are on scene.

The identity of the man is not known at this time. It is also not known how long he has been dead.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
