Clearwater Police Participate In National Night Out Activities
(For those looking for great visual opportunities tomorrow evening)
The Clearwater Police Department will join local businesses, other organizations and Clearwater residents Tuesday evening to mark the 30th anniversary of National Night Out.
The event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the Super Target at Clearwater Mall.
The department's K9 and mounted units will be there, as will representatives of the SWAT team. The traffic enforcement cars also will be on display, as will vehicles from Clearwater Fire & Rescue and a Bayflite medical helicopter.
A bicycle safety course will be set up for children, and there will be free bike helmets and bike lights given away.
Children can have their faces painted and also see wildlife from Big Cat Rescue.
Adults can bring documents to be shredded by ProShred.
A total of 26 restaurants will be handing out free food, and there will be door prize drawings as well. Target, Lowe's and Costco are major sponsors helping to put on the event.
National Night Out was started nationwide in 1984 as a crime-prevention tool that was also designed to encourage partnerships between police departments and the community.
