(Mug shot from 2010 arrest attached at bottom of release)
A Clearwater woman was taken into custody late Friday afternoon, accused of first-degree murder in the slaying of her husband more than six years ago.
Rebecca Ayn Fenton, 46, was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. by Clearwater Police homicide detectives at the Capri Mobile Home Park near Sunset Point Road and U.S. 19.
The arrest came several hours after she was indicted by a Pinellas County grand jury in the death of her husband, Larry Fenton.
Larry Fenton, 57, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in his house at
1051 Nokomis St. in Clearwater on Feb. 3, 2008. His wife, Rebecca Fenton, was the one who found his body. She told police she had been exercising in the detached garage behind the house at the time of the shooting.
Rebecca Fenton told police that she heard a noise that sounded like something falling off the roof while she was exercising, but she didn't check on her husband until sometime later. When she did, she found him in a pool of blood.
Inside Rebecca Fenton's car in the driveway, police found a revolver purchased by the victim the prior year. The investigation showed that the weapon turned out to be the one which killed Larry Fenton; inside the house, a box of ammunition in the master bedroom was missing five rounds.
Rebecca Fenton will be booked into the Pinellas County Jail later this evening. She will be held without bond.
