Hole on Eldridge Street Caused by Sewer Pipe Break
Pennsylvania Avenue from Seminole to Eldridge streets and also Seminole Street from Vine to Pennsylvania avenues will be closed to traffic now through Jan. 18, 2019. In addition, Eldridge Street has been narrowed to one lane of travel between Vine and Pennsylvania avenues.
A hole opened up in the road at the intersection of Eldridge Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The hole was caused by a broken 24-inch wastewater pipe that runs east on Eldridge Street. A bypass will be set up to divert sewer waste around the damaged line. The bypass is necessary to repair the sewer main and to keep city sewer operations running effectively.
Residents should take Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue or Myrtle Avenue as detour routes. For more information, contact Clearwater Public Utilities at (727) 562-4960.
