Partners Celebrate the Completion of the Druid Road Trail
Pedestrians now can walk, run or bike continuously from Clearwater Beach to Tampa
Clearwater, Fla. — The city of Clearwater and Pinellas County Government celebrate the completion of construction on the Druid Trail Phase IV. The trail runs along Druid Road from Glen Oaks Park on the west end to the Duke Energy Trail on the east end, completing the connection from bay to beach.
A ribbon cutting will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 3. The public is invited to join Mayor George N. Cretekos, members of the City Council, and officials from the Engineering and Parks & Recreation departments at the ceremony. It will take place near the intersection of Druid Road and Bypass Drive in Clearwater, which is where the Duke Energy Trail and the Druid Trail Phase IV meet.
Completion of this intersection of the trail is important because it creates one continuous network of trails that connect Clearwater Beach to the city of Tampa. Pedestrians now can walk, run or bike continuously from Pinellas to Hillsborough County using the trail system.
The completion of the trail is a milestone marking the completion of numerous projects that were funded and supported by the city of Clearwater, Pinellas County, the Florida Department of Transportation, the State of Florida, the federal government and Forward Pinellas. This project will benefit pedestrians who like to walk, run or bike using Tampa Bay’s trail systems.
