Dreams of Dalí Virtual Reality Experience Enters its Final Month in Downtown Clearwater
This first-of-its-kind installation presented by the Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency is ending its six-month run in downtown with a celebration of art and technology

CLEARWATER, Fla. — June 4, 2019— As part of the Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency’s broader initiative to support high-quality, participatory arts programming in greater Downtown Clearwater area, The Dalí Museum’s award-winning Dreams of Dalí virtual reality experience enters its final month at Second Century Studios this June with activities that explore the intersection of arts and technology.
The Dalí Museum’s Dreams of Dalí experience transports visitors into Salvador Dalí’s Surrealist painting Archaeological Reminiscence of Millet’s “Angelus” through virtual reality (VR) technology. The free, limited-engagement installation opened to the public in January and will run through June 30 at Second Century Studios, located at 331 Cleveland St. It is currently the only Dreams of Dali dedicated VR experience outside of The Dalí Museum.
The six-month installation has been a first-of-its-kind for Clearwater, providing residents and visitors an opportunity to explore art through technology. The unique partnership between the internationally renowned Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg and the city of Clearwater’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has brought thousands of visitors to downtown.
“We’re thrilled to have partnered with The Dalí Museum to bring this kind of high-quality, engaging exhibit to our downtown,” said Amanda Thompson, the city of Clearwater's CRA director. “We’ve had a tremendous response from our visitors so far, and we’re looking forward to another month of celebrating the arts and community engagement.”
Throughout the month of June, in addition to hosting the Dreams of Dalí exhibit, the CRA will sponsor community programming at Second Century Studios, including:
- June 8: Blast off with Summer Reading and Technology and get hands on with STEM gadgets, brought to you by the Clearwater Main Library. 12 – 5 p.m.
- June 9, 16, 23: Sunday Morning Yoga that challenges your mind, body and perspective. 9 – 10 a.m.
- June 15:From a green screen to podcasting, play with and see the resources the Clearwater Main Library has available for makers and creators of all kinds. 12 – 5 p.m.
- June 22: An Arts and Technology Showcase exploring the future for technology and the arts with leading and emerging voices in the Tampa Bay region, including the Clearwater Main Library and the University of South Florida’s Access 3-D Lab. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Participants in the Dreams of Dalí virtual reality exhibit at Second Century Studios also have an opportunity to receive discounts at more than a dozen Downtown Clearwater merchants, and discounted tickets to The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg.
