Clearwater Police Honor Orlando Woman With CPD Samaritan Award

Post Date:08/02/2019 3:10 PM
This afternoon, the Clearwater Police Department paid tribute to Shadricka Myers of Orlando for her role in helping save the life of a 9-year-old girl at a Clearwater Beach hotel pool. On May 25 of this year, the girl was unresponsive when she was pulled from the water of the pool. Myers, who works in Orlando as an emergency room nurse, saw what was happening and her work instincts kicked in immediately. She ran to the child and began performing CPR until fire rescue crews could arrive on scene. After her efforts, the child became responsive and was taken to a local hospital to be checked out. "One of our sergeants thanked you for being a hero," Chief Dan Slaughter said today in awarding her the CPD Samaritan Award. "A hero is truly what you are, for when others were paralyzed with shock, you took appropriate action." The CPD Samaritan Award is presented to those who go above and beyond to serve those in need in the community.
