August Clearwater Aging Well Center Programs 

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Aging Well Center, located in the Long Center at 1501 N. Belcher Road, will host a variety of upcoming programs throughout the month of August. For more information or to register, call the Aging Well Center at (727) 724-3070.  

Highlights include: 

Clearwater Historical Society: From School to Museum
Monday, Aug. 19, 2-3 p.m.
The museum recently held its grand opening. Join us to learn how a dedicated team of volunteers, with a shoestring budget, turned a former school into a museum. Enjoy stories about the culture and events of Clearwater’s rich past. Presented by the Clearwater Historical Society. Free.

U.S.S. Tampa: Pageantry, Protection and Patriotism
Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
In 1918, during W.W.I, the U.S. Navy suffered its worst disaster when the U.S.S. Tampa was sunk by a German U-Boat in the English Channel. Everyone, including 24 boys from Tampa, was killed. Prior to the war and after the Titanic tragedy, the ship was a Coast Guard Cutter protecting many countries' vessels from floating icebergs in the North Atlantic. Presented by Tampa Bay History Museum.  Free.
