Sewer Manholes to Undergo Repairs in Portions of Clearwater

Post Date:09/10/2019 10:22 AM

Sewer manholes in various areas of Clearwater Beach are currently in a state of disrepair and are experiencing storm and ground water infiltration. Thirty three manholes will be coated with a polyurethane coating and will be repaired now through mid-October. The location of the repairs is on north Clearwater Beach from the intersection of Eldorado Avenue and Bay Esplanade south to Kipling Plaza.

A contractor for the city, Engineered Spray Solutions, has begun coating the interiors of several sewer manholes in the north beach area. Construction will continue until work is complete. Once construction begins in a particular area, it will last anywhere from 12 to 24 hours with no break. Pausing or discontinuing work interferes with the curing process.

Residents in the construction areas can expect to hear noise associated with the project from pumps, vehicles and other associated construction equipment. Intermittent lane closures may be in effect, allowing one-way traffic at a time. Flagmen will be on site to help direct traffic through construction areas when required.

Schedules may change due to weather or conditions. If you have questions or concerns, call the city of Clearwater’s Engineering Department at (727) 562-4750.
