September Clearwater Aging Well Center Programs 

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Aging Well Center, located in the Long Center at 1501 N. Belcher Road, will host a variety of upcoming programs throughout the month of September. For more information or to register, call the Aging Well Center at (727) 724-3070.  

Highlights include: 

Needle Felts Crafts with Free Instruction:
Thursday, Sept. 19, 1-2:30 p.m.
Susan Sudnik will instruct students on how to learn the basics of needle felting. Create a flower that can be used as a pin or adornment to a scarf. Participants will then be able to make a pumpkin or snowman incorporating these techniques. Space is limited. Class instruction is free. $15 (cash) materials fee paid to the instructor.

Words: Your Pun-divided Attention
Thursday, Sept. 19, 2-3 p.m.
Sheryl Graham describes the science behind understanding and appreciating verbal humor such as puns and how the brain processes wordplay. Free.

A Matter of Balance: Refresher and Overview
Monday, Sept. 23, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Aging Well Center is proud to have many graduates of this evidenced-based, award-winning program designed to help older adults reduce the fear of falling and increase physical activity. A Matter of Balance graduates and those interested in taking the class are invited to this workshop refresher and overview. Light refreshments will be served. Class size is limited. Pre-registration is required.

Walking In Their Footsteps: Where Our Ancestors Lived and Worked
Monday, Sept. 23, 2-3 p.m.
One of the fun things about genealogy is getting to know our ancestors as people, not just as names and dates on a chart. This presentation will help you to identify sources that can assist you in locating where your ancestors lived and worked. Presented by Karen Fortin. Free.

Wisdom Circle
Monday, Sept. 23, 3-4 p.m.
Joye Swisher introduces a way for small groups to create a space of trust, authenticity, caring and openness to change. Share in this life-affirming gathering with kindred spirits. Free.

Name That Tune - “That’s Amore”
Monday, Sept. 30, 1-3:30 p.m.
Fajah Dajah is a father and daughter musical duo made up of Tim Jacobsmeyer and Jessi Kaye. With Jessi on vocals and Tim on keyboard and vocals, they play a wide variety of pop hits from the fifties to present day. The event features musical trivia from television and commercial theme songs and classic hits. If you pre-register and attend, you’ll be eligible for one free door prize ticket. Pizza will be served, while supplies last. Free.
