Clearwater to Require Contractors Apply for Some Permits Online
CLEARWATER, Fla. – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Clearwater’s Planning & Development Department has remained open and accepted both drop-off and online permit applications. Starting June 1, the city of Clearwater will begin requiring licensed contractors to obtain certain permits online. This change is taking place in order to better use available technology, save customers and business owners’ time and money, and reduce the number of people who need to come into city offices.
Effective June 1, the following permit types must be obtained online:
- Garage door
- Water heater
Visit epermit.myclearwater.com to begin obtaining permits online. Tutorials and helpful videos are posted online to help users navigate through the system. Owner builder permits must still be obtained in person at our office at 100 S. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater, Fla. 33756.
“We saw this as an opportunity to better serve our customers by eliminating the need for them to take time out of their busy schedules to make a trip to our office by fully implementing the technology we have,” said Gina Clayton, director of Planning & Development. “Our team is looking forward to serving a large number of our contractors in a whole new way.”
