Clearwater Gas Employee Named Florida’s “Natural Gas Operating Person of the Year”

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Gas System employee Donnie Packer was named by the Florida Natural Gas Association, or FNGA, as the Statewide 2017 Don Napier Operating Person of the Year on Oct. 11.

Packer began his service with the city of Clearwater in 1999 with the Public Utilities Division. He then transferred to Clearwater Gas System in 2004 as a Gas Technician. Since then, Packer has gained a wealth of gas knowledge and experience, which helped him transition into the Gas Installation Supervisor position in 2012. During his tenure as Installation Supervisor, his section improved profits, restructured procedures and created relationships with numerous gas builders. Most recently, Packer was promoted to a Gas Sales Representative.

“We’re so proud of Donnie and all his accomplishments over his 13 year career in the natural gas industry,” said Brian Langille, Assistant Director for Clearwater Gas System.

Each year, FNGA selects a gas industry employee based upon outstanding performance in gas distribution. The nomination submissions included 36 natural gas utility systems in Florida with more than 1,500 operations employees.

Clearwater Gas System is the fourth largest municipal gas system in Florida and ranks 34th out of nearly 1,000 gas systems in the United States. Learn more about Clearwater Gas at
