Post Date:12/21/2017 1:16 PM

CLEARWATER, Fla. – A beach full of sugary sand, palm trees, sunshine and excitement awaits athletes and fans of the Outback Bowl when they come celebrate at the Outback Bowl Beach Day on Clearwater Beach. Before the showdown between the SEC and Big 10 on New Year’s Day Jan. 1, players, coaches, marching bands and cheerleaders from the Michigan Wolverines and South Carolina Gamecocks will participate in a number of competitions at the Hilton Clearwater Beach. Each team’s marching band will perform in a friendly battle-of-the-bands competition, team cheerleaders will battle in tug-o-war, players and coaches will be introduced; all while fans watch and cheer on their favorite team. This free, fun-filled event will take over Clearwater Beach on Dec. 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The Outback Bowl is a signature event for the Tampa Bay area and brings thousands of people and millions of dollars of economic impact to the area each year,” said Clearwater Special Events Planning and Project Manager Kris Koch. “The ‘Beach Day’ event showcases our beautiful area to all of those out-of-town visitors traveling in to watch their favorite teams play their post-season bowl game.”

The Outback Bowl Beach Day has become a popular tradition leading up to game day. After Beach Day, stick around for Sunsets at Pier 60 featuring artisans, music and more while you watch the sunset on the Gulf of Mexico. Get all the information you need by visiting
