Jay Polglaze was appointed Dec. 6, 2018 to fill the remainder of an unexpired term through March 2020. He first joined the Clearwater City Council in February 2012 and served until March of 2016.
Mr. Polglaze has lived in the Clearwater-Largo area for 49 years, having been a Clearwater resident since his departure from the U.S. Army in 1979.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2016 where he worked for 34 years. He served as PTA President, Little League Baseball Coach, Boy Scout Scoutmaster and neighborhood crime watch coordinator.
As a community activist, he worked closely with the city of Clearwater to help develop the Neighborhood Traffic Calming program.
Mr. Polglaze is a past Co-director of the Clearwater Jazz Force. He has served on the Downtown Development Board and the Downtown Partnership. He has twice been a member of the Clearwater Charter Review Committee and is a graduate of the inaugural class of the city’s citizen’s academy, Clearwater 101.
Most recently Mr. Polglaze served as the Executive Director for the Clearwater Downtown Partnership and the Vice-Chairman of the Clearwater Jolley Trolley.
Mr. Polglaze has been married to his wife, Linda, for 32 years. They have two children, Kyle and Jessica.
