Join us for a lively and insightful presentation by Dr. Anthony E. Dixon celebrating African-American Freedom Day. This event is FREE, open to the public and includes refreshments. Registration is required.

Anthony E. Dixon, Ph.D., is a public historian specializing in African American and African Diaspora history and culture. He earned his Ph.D. in history from Indiana University in 2007, focusing on African Diaspora History, and holds a Master’s of Information Science from Florida State University. His earlier studies were completed at Florida A & M University, where he received a Bachelor's (1994) and Master’s degree (2001).

He is the author of three books: Up From Incarceration: Dispelling the Myths of the Thug LifeFlorida’s Negro War: Black Seminoles and the Second Seminole War 1835-1842, and A Timeline of the African Diaspora Experience in Florida. Currently, he is the Founder and President of Archival and Historical Research Associates, a public history firm working with libraries, museums, and historical sites dedicated to the African American and African Diaspora experience. He also serves as the lead historian and content expert for the State of Florida Museum exhibit "Civil Rights in the Sunshine State."
