Performance Measures

Miles of Gas Distribution Main Installed

WHAT IS THE MEASURE?

The miles of gas distribution main installed represents the length, in miles, of newly installed system expansion and replacement gas distribution pipelines.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Measuring the miles of gas distribution main installed is essential for tracking infrastructure growth, evaluating system capacity, planning future expansions or upgrades, and ensuring the continued safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers.

HOW WE ARE DOING IT

The miles of gas distribution main installed are quantified annually and quarterly by totaling the length, in miles, of newly installed assets as documented by construction inspectors and field engineering drawings, reflecting the addition of new gas infrastructure.

Number of Gas Service Lines Installed

WHAT IS THE MEASURE?

The number of gas service lines installed represents the total count of newly added and replacement gas service lines that deliver gas to individual residences, multifamily buildings, commercial establishments, or industrial facilities.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Measuring the number of customer gas service lines installed is important for monitoring customer growth, informing business marketing initiatives, optimizing resource allocation, and supporting comprehensive long-term system planning and reliability.

HOW WE ARE DOING IT

The number of gas service lines installed are quantified annually and quarterly by totaling the quantity of newly installed service lines as documented by construction inspectors and field engineering drawings, reflecting the addition of new gas infrastructure.

Average Annual Customer Usage

WHAT IS THE MEASURE?

The average annual customer usage reports on the yearly average gas consumption, measured in therms, of all customer classifications.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Measuring the average annual customer usage of gas remains essential for accurately forecasting natural gas demand and supply, as well as informing rate-making decisions by CGS Energy.

HOW WE ARE DOING IT

The average annual customer usage is determined by measuring the total volume of all gas sold, in therms, against the total customer count. A therm is defined as a unit of measurement for natural gas where one therm equals 100,000 British Thermal Units (BTUs).
