The city of Clearwater Public Utilities Department is performing utility adjustments on Drew Street in preparation for a future Florida Department of Transportation roadway project. Work began June 12 and will be done on drinking water, reclaimed water, and sanitary sewer lines. There are currently no anticipated service disruptions for utility users, and crews thank you for your patience during construction activities.

Construction Update as of Aug.11

Crews from Clearwater Public Utilities continue construction on Drew Street as part of an ongoing infrastructure improvement project.

Construction on the city’s drinking water main is underway on Drew Street between Keene Road and North Highland Avenue, as work continues west toward Osceola Avenue.

The traffic-control setup on Drew Street is being adjusted Aug. 11. Crews are removing and relocating road-closure equipment east of Keene Road and shifting the setup farther west. Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12, Clearwater Public Utilities construction will move west toward Hillcrest Avenue and include a portion of North Highland Avenue. One lane of Drew Street will be closed through Hillcrest Avenue, and northbound Highland Avenue north of Drew Street will be closed. Mariva Avenue North, Orangeview Avenue and Hillcrest Drive will remain accessible, along with Saturn, Jupiter and Duncan avenues.

Intersections within the active work zone may close temporarily, with detour signs in place, and short-term driveway access impacts are possible.

Construction activities and traffic patterns are weather permitting and may be adjusted if conditions require.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, nearby residents and businesses should expect temporary impacts in the area. Construction also may cause temporary disruptions to solid waste and recycling collection services.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the work zone, follow posted detours and allow extra travel time.
