The city of Clearwater Public Utilities Department is performing utility adjustments on Drew Street in preparation for a future Florida Department of Transportation roadway project. Work began June 12 and will be done on drinking water, reclaimed water, and sanitary sewer lines. There are currently no anticipated service disruptions for utility users, and crews thank you for your patience during construction activities.
Construction Update as of Oct. 23
The right westbound lane closure on Drew Street will continue as crews complete water main work along the corridor.
Beginning Oct. 26, this lane closure will extend to North Myrtle Avenue. All intersections between North Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and North Myrtle Avenue will remain open.
Mariva Avenue North, Hillcrest Drive, North Prescott Avenue, North Lincoln Avenue, North Jefferson Avenue, North Missouri Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue, North Madison Avenue will remain closed at Drew Street. All other intersections will remain open. These closures are necessary for water main replacement work.
Driveway access will be maintained. Property owners will be notified in advance if temporary driveway closures are required. Drivers should follow posted detours and allow additional travel time.
Traffic Impacts
Motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, nearby residents and businesses should expect temporary impacts in the area. Construction also may restrict short-term driveway access and may also cause temporary disruptions to solid waste and recycling collection services.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the work zone, follow posted detours and allow extra travel time.
