Upcoming Active Assailant Training
Published on July 25, 2025
Officers from the Clearwater Police Department, along with several other Pinellas County law enforcement agencies, will participate in active assailant training July 30 on the campuses of Clearwater High School and Plumb Elementary School.
The exercise is being conducted to evaluate and improve overall preparedness for an emergency event. The training simulates an active assailant with mass casualties on the high school campus. The incident is not real; however, the response activities during the fictional exercise will be practiced in a manner that is as realistic as possible. The areas where the training will take place will be clearly marked.
For your safety, and in order to complete the exercise in a realistic environment, the area will not be open to the public. Multiple road closures will occur near the high school; roads near the elementary school will not be shut down.
The city asks for your patience if the exercise disrupts your daily routine.Thank you for your support of this important exercise. If you have any concerns or questions about the exercise, please contact Sergeant Jessica Mackesy at jmackesy@pcsonet.com or 727-582-5902.
