Safety Measures Go Into Effect for High-Capacity Council Meetings

Staff from the city of Clearwater are implementing changes in protocol for upcoming city council meetings that have the potential to exceed the safe capacity of the Clearwater Main Library, council chambers and overflow areas. Changes go into effect July 13, 2026.

On July 8, 2026, an equipment failure at the city's East Water Reclamation Facility caused a wastewater overflow that was contained entirely on facility grounds. No wastewater entered storm drains or surface waters, there are no public health concerns, and wastewater services continue to operate normally.
