Clearwater Beach Marina Replacement Construction Project The construction project includes two phases, and it is expected to be fully completed in August 2026. Most of Phase 1 of the project has been completed, which included the demolition and rebuilding of the west side of the marina.
Northeast Water Reclamation Facility Odor Issues The city of Clearwater has received complaints about an odor-control issue at the Northeast Water Reclamation Facility. Crews from Clearwater Public Utilities are aware of the issue, and we are taking steps that should fix the problem within a few weeks. The long-term fix will take longer, however, and we don't expect the odors to be a problem after the end of January 2025.
Municipal Electric Utility Study Clearwater’s 30-year electric franchise with Duke Energy is ending. The city can either municipalize electricity, joining 33 Florida cities that run their own utilities, or negotiate a new franchise. Investor-owned utilities have historically served the area under PSC-granted monopolies and customizable local agreements.
