Clearwater’s Rain Trays Keep Stormwater Out of Sewer System

Across Clearwater, there are hidden metal disks that rest below many of the city’s manholes. Rain trays, sometimes also referred to as “rain stoppers” devices that are designed to prevent rainwater from entering the sewer system through manholes. It has a rubber gasket that fits around the edge of the manhole cover to create a seal between the ring and the cover. 
What do Rain Trays Do?

In the city of Clearwater, rain trays have been implemented and utilized across the city for numerous years. The city has installed plenty, however not all manholes have them. This is due to the varied styles and sizes of rings and covers throughout the city, which can potentially prevent the cover from closing if a tray is installed.
