City staff have received questions about construction work happening in the North Beach area of Clearwater. Contractors working for Clearwater Public Utilities are currently working on a multi-phase project to replace reclaimed water service lines, which connect individual homes to the city’s reclaimed water main, for all reclaimed water customers north of the Clearwater Beach roundabout.

The reclaimed water pipes that connect 925 North Beach homes to the city’s reclaimed water mains are being replaced, due to their advanced age and likelihood to fail, causing reclaimed water emergencies. This project began last year and only 50 services remain to be completed for the North Beach project. The contractor anticipates finishing the remaining services and all associated restoration work by the end of this year.

Crews work on a few houses at a time as they move through the service territory. When work begins along your home, you will receive a doorhanger usually four to five days prior to construction. Driveways may be periodically blocked from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. when work is occurring. All work will be done in the right-of-way or dedicated easements. Every effort will be made to keep inconveniences to a minimum.

And after the individual service lines are repaired, crews may temporarily replace sidewalks, followed by full replacement. Everything will be restored to the same or better conditions than they were before. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as our crews work hard on these important improvements.
