Below are the road and lane closures happening in the city of Clearwater:

Utility Projects

  • A northbound lane of Hillcrest Avenue at Court Street will be closed to traffic starting Monday, Oct. 6, due to a drinking water pipe repair. Follow posted detour signs.
  • A portion of Deer Run Road will be closed Oct. 6 to 13, due to a repair being made to the sanitary sewer system. Follow posted detour signs.

Road Construction

  • Southbound lanes on Osceola Avenue will shift to share the northbound lane just south of Drew Street, beginning Sept. 11, for construction of a new hotel and rental building.
  • North- and southbound median lanes of Island Way, between Skiff Point and Dory Passage, will be closed for approximately a year. The project started in August 2024 and are expected to wrap up soon. The closure is due to the replacement of an iron-cast water main along with other underground utility work. Flaggers will be present at times, so expect some traffic delays.
  • The Florida Department of Transportation has begun a project on U.S. 19 in Clearwater between Drew Street and Sunset Point Road. This project will repave U.S. 19, the ramps and the frontage roads. Other improvements include realigning existing U-turn lanes and upgrading sidewalks and lighting. Construction is anticipated to be complete in late 2025.

Pedestrian Trail Impacts

  • The south side of the Courtney Campbell Causeway pedestrian trail closed to pedestrian traffic from Bayshore Boulevard to Dr. Kiran C. Patel Boulevard, through late 2025, weather permitting. This closure is necessary for crews to construct the pedestrian overpass over Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard east of Bayshore Boulevard, connecting the Bayshore Trail and the Courtney Campbell Causeway Trail. Construction activities are expected to finish in late 2026.
