Below are the road and lane closures happening in the city of Clearwater:

Downtown Construction

Other Downtown Road Closures

  • Osceola Avenue has been reduced to one lane in each direction next to the Ballad hotel construction site. Expect traffic delays throughout the project, and this lane shift will be in place until the end of construction.
  • The former City Hall parking lot (112 S. Osceola Ave.) and the lot at 301 Pierce St. are closed for construction staging for downtown projects. Residents and visitors should use alternative parking at other downtown lots in the surrounding area.

 

Utility Projects

  • The Acacia/Mandalay roundabout will temporarily close on  August 4 to August 5, to all traffic for pavement rehabilitation. Motorists should expect delays, use caution in the work zone and follow posted detour signs. Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time during the closure. The schedule is subject to change because of weather or unforeseen construction conditions.
  • South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue will be closed just south of Kinsley Street from Monday, July 27, through the end of the day Tuesday, August 4, to allow crews to complete potable water infrastructure improvements.
  • Beginning Monday, July 6, road work will begin work along Memorial Causeway as part of the City's Reclaimed Water System Improvement project. The work will include drilling operations that will move west along the causeway and is expected to take four to six weeks to complete. Intermittent lane closures may occur during active work hours, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.
  • Pierce Street between Osceola and Fort Harrison avenues is closed Aug.1 through Oct.1, while crews complete utility connections and structural work. An overlapping lane shift on Osceola Avenue, from Pierce Street to south of Cleveland Street, will be in effect from Sept.10 through Oct. 1.
  • Ongoing Utility adjustments on Drew Street will begin June 15, in preparation for a Florida Department of Transportation project scheduled to start later in 2026. A westbound lane is closed through the work zone from Saturn Avenue and North Highland Avenue as crews continue working west from Keene Road toward Osceola Avenue. Intersections may close temporarily with signed detours. Short-term impacts to driveway access are possible, but crews will work to minimize disruptions.
  • Lotus Path will be closed near the property number 805 starting June 8, for about four to five weeks, due to a sewer main replacement.
  • Wastewater system improvements will be in progress in the Stewart Boulevard area to strengthen existing sewer pipes and improve reliability during hurricane season. Residents may experience temporary traffic impacts while a bypass system is in place, but all utility services will remain active throughout the project. 

Road Construction

Right-of-Way Maintenance Projects

  • A bridge within Cliff Stephens Park along the Ream Wilson Trail is currently closed. As of April 9, the city’s consultant inspected the structure and recommended that it remain closed until a more detailed structural analysis can be completed. The bridge will remain closed until further notice.
