Fire Station 47, located at 677 S. Hercules Ave., opened in June 2025. The four-bay station has 11,000 square feet and features a rescue, engine, squad and safety officer.

Mach Alert Fire System

The new fire station is required to be notified by the County’s 911 alarm system to provide a coordinated response. The new Mach Alert Fire Station Alerting system is the means of communication between the County 911 alarm system and Fire Station #47. Motorola Solutions, Inc. is the sole provider of the Mach alert system in Pinellas County.

Fire Station 47 Construction Project

The original Fire Station 47 was built in the early 70’s. Due to the structure’s age, the station was replaced to meet the current best practices and standards. The grand opening for the new station was held in September 2025.

Project Timeline

  • Nov. 19, 2020: Council approved a design work order with Wannemacher Jensen and Associates Inc. for $445,869.
  • March 7, 2024: Council approved a construction engineering inspection supplemental work order with Wannemacher Jensen Architects Inc. for $47,415, along with a guaranteed maximum price contract of $8,500,702 with construction manager at risk Biltmore Construction Inc.
  • March 2024: Project broke ground.
  • June 2025: All punch list items completed; certificate of occupancy obtained; IT and traffic light control installations completed. Fire operations transferred to the new station.
  • Sept. 2, 2025: Grand opening held.
