Below are the road and lane closures happening in the city of Clearwater:

Utility Projects

Please drive slowly in these areas to protect our crews:

  • The inside westbound lane of Gulfview Boulevard between Hamden Drive and Bayway Boulevard is currently closed, starting July 24 to Saturday, July 27, due to maintenance of a water line. Construction barrels will be used to maintain a continuous lane closure for the duration of the work.
  • Druid Road between Martin Luther King Jr. and Ewing avenues will be closed July 30 and 31, due to the replacement of two power poles. East- and west-bound traffic will detour north to Pine Street or south to Jasmine Way. Flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic.

Right-of-Way Maintenance Projects

  • None at this time.

Road Construction

  • Repairs will be made to the Courtney Campbell Trail between Courtney Campbell Beach and Ben T. Davis Beach over the next several months. During this time, visitors can expect to find various sections of the trail narrowed or closed completely. Work includes asphalt work (including reconstruction and/or repaving), reconstruction and resodding, some guardrail replacements, and replacement of curb/sidewalks damaged by Hurricane Idalia.
  • The stretch of U.S. 19 from Curlew Road south to State Road 580 in Clearwater is undergoing a major renovation by the Florida Department of Transportation. The project includes new interchanges, roadway and safety improvements, a pedestrian underpass between Evans Road and Republic Drive, and a pedestrian bridge over U.S. 19 at Northside Drive. Construction is estimated to finish in 2029. View the U.S. 19 Construction Webpage.
  • Old Coachman Road will be closed and traffic detoured along U.S. 19 starting in January 2024 through Fall 2026 due to the replacement of the Old Coachman Road Bridge. Old Coachman Road will be closed to thru traffic from Drew Street to Coachman Road. Local access to homes, BayCare Ballpark, Carpenter Complex, businesses and Northeast Coachman Park will be maintained throughout construction. Visit the Project Webpage.

Private Development

  • Gulfview Boulevard is closed to thru-traffic in both directions between Second Street and Hamden Drive from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily from July 24 through Aug. 9, due to the installation of glass in the overhead pedestrian bridge in front of the Opal Sands Resort at 430 S. Gulfview Blvd. There will be a crane in the road for three weeks. Follow posted detour signs, or avoid the route if possible.
  • Fifth Street between Gulfview Boulevard and Coronado Drive is closed, and there is a southbound lane shift on Coronado, now through Oct. 31, 2024.
