Nagano Bell
Installation Date: 2010
Location: Municipal Services Building
The "Nagano Bell" is a replica of a copper bell at Japan’s ancient Zenkoji Temple, given to Clearwater from its sister city in Nagano. It currently sits unadorned in the City Hall lobby and is a testament to the long-standing alliance with Nagano, Japan.
In 1999, the replica was gifted to the city of Clearwater to celebrate 40 years as a sister city with Nagano. Thiry-six members of the Nagano group visited Clearwater for a three-day stay and had the opportunity to tour the beach, take a cruise and tour the museum. The city of Clearwater invited the group as a thank you to the city for hosting the 1998 Winter Olympics. A clock was also given to Nagano as an official gift.
