Water Leaks, Breaks and Emergencies

On the night of July 8, 2026, the City experienced an equipment failure at the East Water Reclamation Facility. Between approximately 11:15 p.m. and 12:40 a.m., the failure caused an estimated 16,946 gallons of partially treated wastewater to overflow within the treatment process.

The overflow was contained on the wastewater treatment facility grounds. No wastewater entered the storm drainage system, surface waters, or waters of the state. Approximately 1,200 gallons of the overflow were recovered. There are no public health concerns related to this incident, and wastewater collection and treatment services continue to operate normally.

City staff stopped the overflow, completed cleanup activities, and submitted all required notifications to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in accordance with state regulations.
