The objective of the Marine & Aviation Department is to operate as a revenue-producing department with a well trained and dedicated staff that provides high quality marine and aviation related services with excellent customer satisfaction to our citizens and customers.In furthering the City Council’s Strategic Direction to support a high quality of life and experience, the Marine & Aviation Department strives to provide quality resources for the marina and airpark tenants both permanent and transient.
The Marine and Aviation Department is responsible for the management and supervision of four City of Clearwater facilities that operate on a seven-day-a-week basis: the Airpark, Beach Marina, Harbor Marina and Seminole Street Boat Launch.
The department has the responsibility for approving commercial dock applications with regard to navigation, city established channel markers, wake zones and restricted swimming areas.
Coast Guard Partnership
The City of Clearwater and the Marine and Aviation Department work in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard at the Clearwater Air Station near the Clearwater/St. Petersburg Airport and the Sand Key Coast Guard Station just south of Clearwater Beach. With miles of coastline bordering Clearwater, this partnership is a natural step in the protection of citizens near and on local waters.
