Reverie Marshes by Rei Ramirez

"Reverie Marshes" is a vibrant mural by Miami-based artist Rei Ramirez that now brightens the side of Señor Subs and Gyros at 1364 Cleveland St. in downtown Clearwater. The work is part of the Art Oasis Mural Festival, a public art initiative organized by the Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency and the city’s Arts & Cultural Affairs Department to animate urban spaces with large-scale murals.

Unveiled in March 2024 during the inaugural festival, Reverie Marshes joins a collection of murals created by local and visiting artists across the Downtown Gateway area. The festival transformed donated walls on privately owned buildings into canvases of color and creativity, with funding from the CRA covering artist fees and materials.

Ramirez’s mural draws inspiration from Florida’s natural landscapes and wildlife, featuring scenes of marshland flora and iconic birds that reflect the region’s ecological heritage. The imagery invites pedestrians to pause and appreciate both the art and the environment it evokes, contributing to a sense of place in the city’s bustling core.

The Art Oasis Mural Festival marked a milestone in Clearwater’s public art efforts, part of a broader strategy to boost cultural engagement and economic activity through creative placemaking. With plans to make the festival an annual event, city leaders say such projects help attract visitors, support local businesses and foster community pride.

In addition to Reverie Marshes, the festival featured murals by Frankie G, Cecilia Lueza, Naomi Haverland and others on buildings throughout downtown. Together, these works contribute to a growing outdoor gallery that turns Clearwater's streets into vibrant cultural destinations.
