Water Main Break

A contractor working for Clearwater Public Utilities was preforming work on the 8-inch water main at the intersection of Gulf to Bay Boulevard and Pegasus Avenue the morning of Nov. 24. During the installation of a line stop, the water main pipe separated. As of early afternoon, city crews are currently onsite assisting the contractor and assessing which water valves will be required to isolate and determine the appropriate steps needed to completed the repairs.

Crews hope to keep the water on if possible, and they are evaluating the extent of the break and identifying the necessary repair approach. Some customers may be experiencing low water pressure. It is unclear at this time if precautionary boil-water notices may be needed.

We anticipate approximately 5 to 6 hours for the necessary repairs to be completed. Check back for more updates as progress is made.
