Construction is underway now and includes two phases of construction. Phase 1 of the construction project has been broken into parts A and B due to damage to the fuel dock that will be undergoing repairs. The first phase includes the complete demolition and rebuild of the west side of the marina, shown in the image below.

pile driving marina Pile Driving and Loud Construction Work

Construction work will be loud, but it is a necessary construction process. Pile driving, or the process of driving vertical columns into the ground to build piers, will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. only, per city noise ordinance. Multiple vibration alarms will monitor the process to prevent damage to surrounding structures.

Clearwater Beach Parking

The construction project has decreased the amount of parking available in the marina parking lot. Parking for marina patrons can still be found at the marina parking lot as well as other parking lots and garages located on Clearwater Beach. A temporary parking lot has been added along the Memorial Causeway for construction crews and marina employees.

Clearwater Marina Tenant Outreach Group

The Clearwater Marina Tenant Outreach Group will help in the development of operational strategies for the commercial businesses in the marina to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the rules, requirements and footprint of the marina to sustain business operations, growth and development. Commercial Boats at the Clearwater Beach Marina

Project Goals

  • Replace aging docks
  • Replace and modernize marina utilities
  • Optimize marina slip mix and layout
  • Maximize city-owned submerged lands, but maintain existing slip count and balance
  • Provide ticket sales locations
  • Reduce congestion along Coronado Drive
  • Activate “Marina Walk”
  • Maintain commercial operations during construction
  • Provide two boat slips for water taxi
  • Replace/raise bulkhead (seawall)

Final Design Summary

  • Marina maintains same slip count and balanced slip mix
  • Commercial boats slips remain docked along perimeter of marina with fixed docks
  • Resilient floating docks provided for non-commercial end users
  • Fixed docks and gangway access platforms raised 15” to 24” to accommodate rising water levels
  • Bulkhead replacement raises cap by 15” to 18” to meet minimum cap height
  • “Marina Walk” extends Beach Walk with shade, and seating
  • Kiosks located upland near primary dock entrances
  • ADA compliant facility
  • EV charging stations
